In Canada, our highest marginal tax rate is just above the median income required to qualify to buy a home. So the lowest level of income to qualify to get a mortgage is the same level the Carney government considers you ultra wealthy and takes over 53% of your marginal income. A large part of this is the massive debasement from the Bank of Canada printing money at the highest level among the G7. This inflated home prices, while wages and marginal tax rates remained in tact.
