A 13-year-old Hindu child named Chanda Maharaj was abducted by a Muslim man.

Despite a complaint filed with the police, no action was taken, and it wasn't until an international outcry that she was rescued two months later from her Muslim abductors.

After being rescued, she was forced to appear in court and was remanded to a 'shelter home' instead of being allowed to return to her family.

Chanda was gang-raped, and her abductor produced fake conversion and marriage certificates, hinting at the involvement of a well-oiled nexus.

After some time in the shelter, authorities handed Chanda back to her abductor, leaving her family in shock and despair, not knowing whether she is alive or had been killed.

Muslim men in Pakistan are known to abduct, force convert, and "marry" young Hindu and other religious minority girls and women with the backing of the police and the Islamic government.

In Pakistan, religious minorities are viewed as lower than Muslims because they do not adhere to Islam - they are considered second-class citizens.
