THINK ABOUT IT was initially reluctant to leave the stables (perhaps knowing his racing days are now over) but eventually boarded the float after some gentle encouragement from trainer Joe Pride. The owners voted almost unanimously for ‘Spud’ to retire at jockey Sam Clipperton’s farm in the Hunter Valley where he will be retrained as a stock horse…like in Yellowstone! In the words of one of our co-owners: “Everyone wants an Everest winner in their paddock or on their team but the best outcome for the horse, who has given us all so much, is to go with someone who already loves him.”
