Munawar Faruqui’s Australian tour has been cancelled.
The tour collapsed in the face of fierce opposition by Australian Hindus, Hindu organisations and Indian-origin community groups, who called for Faruqui's Australian visa to be cancelled.
Faruqui rose to fame following his derisive jokes about the Hindu deities – Ram and Sita; and his mocking of the deaths of Hindu pilgrims in a burning train in Godhra.
One by one Faruqui’s sponsors, venues and promoters deserted him.
While there has been no official announcement by Faruqui, on 20 May 2026, the University of New South Wales – the last remaining venue open for the tour told the Australian Hindu Association that the event promoter had advised it that the show had been cancelled.
26 Hindu and Indian community organisations and temples, including AHA and HCA, had called on Immigration Minister Tony Burke to cancel Faruqui’s visa.
By April, venues - Indian Community Centre and Deakin University, Adelaide organiser Mitram Events and EmCee Mansa Patel had withdrawn support.
By mid-May sponsors A1 TV Entertainment and Vision Consultants also pulled out.
Faruqui is facing multiple criminal charges in India.
At least eight federal MPs conveyed representations by their constituents opposing Faruqui’s visit to Minister Burke.

My restaurant might get shut down by authorities.
Reason - not selling Halal food

We believe this pressure is connected to our decision not to remove our “Non-Halal” sign.

@TaraBull Why are they called server? Because they serve food and keep customer’s happy for the Service, no tip should be mandatory, if someone wants to give it great but nobody should really mandate it.
By that logic, and engineer will ask extra tip from client apart from salary.
