Explaining to most men how immobilizing and emotionally/physically draining periods are is like talking to a wall. Many retort with “okay but getting hit in the balls hurts too” as if you get hit in the balls all day for 4-7 days straight every month.

My period typically spirals me into a deep depression, my hunger cues go away, I have almost no energy, and my entire body hurts and cramps. Women experience this for a week every month and still go to work, go to the gym, take care of their families, and do what needs done. While in severe abdominal pain with hormone driven emotional mood swings that can lead to suicidal ideation (happens to me often!)

Men would fold in half if this was their reality. When men experience pain it becomes the end of the world. Recurring, scheduled pain is literally decades of a woman’s existence.

Doctors are now finding out that The pain we feel when we experience period cramps is equivalent to the pain we feel when we have a heart attack and we didn't know that before, cause researchers weren't getting periods and they didn't know that was a thing they needed to research so we've been enduring this for years and just going to work cause we are trained like it’s fine, it's okay....if men menstruated, period pain would be a valid sick leave reason
