@GFoz1993@SMuehlhausenJr If his team thinks he is next Canelo (in terms of commercial value) then 15-20 million is not that much considering the danger Opetaia brings.
@GFoz1993@SMuehlhausenJr Opetaia is a very high risk fight and not quite the megafight to offer massive reward. Not yet.
Benavidez is the Mexican star in the US right now. He can milk this status by taking easier fights for some time. Would love the fight, but it's smart business from them.
@jhabeeb1 Him vs Beterbiev or Opetaia are the best fights in my opinion. Wars that could end either way.
Bivol will dance around him and win on points. Canelo is the biggest payday and easiest fight.
@RugzyBoxing@ShChildBoxing Canelo is a small 168 fighter.
Haney was huge at 135 who is now at 147 for a reason. While Loma was undersized 135 his whole career. Probably could make 126 if he wanted to. Keep your insults to yourself.
@boasovietica@GMAlexColovic Spassky was not a former or reigning world ch in 1966.
Tal was massive favourite against Botvinnik in 1961. Nobody gave Botvinnik a chance if you read articles from that time.
@MonteroOnBoxing Yep. Rico was busy, manhandled Usyk with his size, but did not land that much. Compare Usyk's face after AJ fights and after this fight.
@Jesse_Livermore Wonder what's even the point of holding 10% then. It barely diversifies the portfolio.
Equity is the backbone of every portfolio, and then you either diversify substantially with other asset classes. Or you don't diversify and hope the next 40 years will repeat the last 40.
@MonteroOnBoxing Spot on. Often missed. Simply look at Ali's opponents. Most of them would have made the CW if they were not below the limit already. Ali was the bigger man more often than not. Him and Usyk are exactly the same size.
@DanRafael1 Yep. Rico by 2 or maybe 3.
-Usyk was really poor. No movement. Either age or injury.
- Ref was poor.
- Commentary was poor.
-Rico was great. Movement, speed and size would indicate he is a top 15 guy. And he would be a bad matchup for multiple top 10 guys.
@CraigHillie3ub@BrodysBets The only reason is money. Boxing is where the money is. Rico probably made 10x or more of his usual purse. It's possible he made more money against Usyk than in his entire kickboxing career.
@Cuban_Writer1@DanRafael1 Try to rewatch it with commentary off while keeping in mind that "doing much better than expected" is not the same as actually winning rounds.
Rico was ahead, but it was not as wide as the broadcast made it.
@general_abn You have it exactly backwards. Computers have equalised the field. It's more difficult to dominate if all your competitors have the exact same tools and your own brain power matters far less since those tools are so much superior than any of you.
@ATokkers5 What's his alternative? He gets outboxed by most if not all other top 10-15 fighters. If that happens he won't sniff a title shot for some time.
He also has power to KO anyone. Might as well be a Dubois in a big money title fight.
