@RossKneeDeep Agree that it is worth a watch. And at the very end, return to watch a few episodes of season 1. Thé contrast of how the main character turns from a decent fellow to something perverse is striking. It was much more convincing than, say, watching the downfall of Anakin to Vader.
@KristajSharpe The ´sigh’ says it all. By coincidence, I am reading a book by #DanRather who goes into some detail about the importance of empathy towards each other.
@ankatea@captainswallow@geolinguistics I don’t see why a qualitative or quantitative study is colonial by definition. All cultures have to do this in some form. The first tribes had to learn the most optimal way to build a bow, pick a berry, or traverse water. Scientific minds at work. It is all data.
@mackenz_kitchen Take a good look at https://t.co/MIPBuk7frt. Their work on creating concrete projects for kids is invaluable and the investment is marginal. The full RPi-4 is maybe $100 all in and works as a windows 3 desktop.
So I did a data literacy training thing, in collaboration with 18 departments and in an agile way over the last 4 months. I just pressed ‘send’ to invite others to participate and provide feedback - feels so vulnerable and awesome at the same time 🙈#gcdigital@DigiAcademyCAN
July 22, or 22/7, is Pi Approximation Day, not to be confused with Pi Day (March 14). I wish everyone Happy Pi Approximation Day! The image includes Pi Poetry (3-1-4 syllables per line!) and some Pie recipes. Thanks to colleagues for their contributions!
Data Science Challenge-48 (Stages of Data Science): Knowing the data maturity level of your organization is critical to building a data science team. It fundamentally changes your team philosophy, which in turn affects recruitment and retention strategies. #DataScienceTogether
@paulmguerra Data model within Power Bi is built with English / French by default. Plan is to have the analytics comes out in both languages allowing us to publish files quickly, in both languages, at the same time. Documentation almost done. Objective: No more "french to follow" emails!
Data Science Challenge-47 (Communication): Have you invested in creating a dynamic bilingual dashboard that refreshes with live data? Not easy, but my whole team is getting this training now and it will be a requirement for all dashboards going forward. #DataScienceTogether
@mackenz_kitchen And for those that need a practical example, many schools receive at least partial funding from the neighbourhoods they reside in. It sounds fair, but it means that kids in lower income areas, which are also much more diverse, don’t have the same services as everyone else.
I am looking for examples of collecting data from social media (scrapingthe data) within the federal family. Would appreciate a message to take a look at what you have. Would rather not have to rebuild this!
@pauldombowsky Paul, I would be happy to look at your CV because I was going to advertise next week for #2. Some hiring managers have asked if I could share CVs and I would be happy to do so. Everyone can find their niche. Please send it in.
PCO is looking for a federal employee developer who wants to help build a new Data Science team (ideal CS-03 technical). We need someone who can (1) build a proper database as a core function (to enable the team!) and (2) work with clients to help them understand their own data.
@ToferC@Actinolite@Transports_gc@PrivyCouncilCA That is a fair point. In one of our challenges we have dozens of variables collected in various free text formats (email / word / excel) and dozens more variables in different legacy systems. Data being organized, but need some form of relational database for our foundation.
