Anxiety Raises Dementia Risk

A recent study finds that chronic and new onset anxiety are associated with a significantly higher risk of developing dementia.

The research, conducted over 10 years with 2,132 participants aged around 76, showed that individuals with chronic or new anxiety had 2.8 and 3.2 times higher risk of dementia, respectively.

Notably, those whose anxiety resolved did not face increased dementia risk, highlighting the potential importance of managing anxiety for dementia prevention.
