@brihughespoet i thought i was really going out on a limb with the ai-driven collages to music kindly published by @datableedzine i found it very funny to realise afterwards they were actually 2 neatly paginated sonnets - sometimes you can't help it!

great thread here on the state of the sonnet from @brihughespoet! posting mine again from @datableedzine thanks again to @JuhaPVirtanen and @nellperry for giving these mad little poems a wonderful home

@brihughespoet My sonnet 'After Before Dawn' in Issue 14 of @datableedzine came about as a response to Swinburne's depictions of queer embodiment - and playing with the textual body of the sonnet myself felt like genderqueer poetic praxis.
@brihughespoet@datableedzine @mariaxrose @PrueBussLain @nothumanhead @mossish_@errormessage Briony, thanks so much for including me in this - and thanks to @datableedzine for giving a home to my weird little sonnets for Universal Credit. Lovely to be in the company of so much extraordinary work.
@brihughespoet I think people like have a defined sandpit to play in. Many of us were introduced to the form in school, so now we have fun messing around with and subverting it. Here are my five vispo sonnet-not-sonnets in @datableedzine: https://t.co/NfnfJ2tJeh
"whatever happened to the idea of
tomorrow being different from today,
you can't say these things anymore, it's
like the past's always hanging around, a
shadow in the mirror"

@brihughespoet@datableedzine @mariaxrose @PrueBussLain @nothumanhead @mossish_@chrisdboyland Thanks Briony! This @datableedzine issue is a fantastic showcase of how you can push the sonnet form. I also have vispo versions of a longer series from which my contribution came.
Hot on the heels of DBZ14, we invite subs for

very happy to have one of my collages in this sonnet issue alongside loads of great work! first time one has appeared as part of a collection (that isn't my instagram...)
I’ve got two more sonnets from my thesis with @datableedzine. One about a new relationship—another about growing up with an what seemed like an inescapable connection to addiction
