I’m not exaggerating when I say this. I guarantee they have some MIT grad working for them in a back room that cracked the code on intercepting the radio frequency of PitchCom and has access to the “keys” to decipher each pitch. I legitimately don’t remember a single BOS hitter chase a breaking ball the whole series. I’m going to comb through the statcast data on O-swing%, barrel%, etc from start of streak compared to prior to streak. I’m fairly certain there’s going to be some crazy differences.

I don’t quite understand this argument that 19 yr old Luis Peña’s value is damaged by health concerns, but River Ryan who is 2 weeks short of his 28th birthday and has had every injury under the Sun, is fine.

This isn’t an anti-River Ryan post, it’s just odd to me that questioning Ryan’s prospect status and health issues constitutes bias, hate or a conspiracy.

To be fair I’m not a huge fan of Jett Williams, so I can understand the stance that MIL’s package wasn’t better. But, how can you argue that Peña value is somehow diminished by injuries, while shamelessly defending Ryan’s more extensive injury history?

@WilfredBergqvi1 He’s coming off his second TJS and we’re going to slide him into a high leverage role. Not only are they relying on him being healthy, but they’re also hoping he can operate at maximum capacity down the stretch. That’s not a plan, that’s a prayer.

The Brewers' initial offer for Tarik Skubal included three prospects, all of whom were hitters, and at least two were top 100 prospects, per @AdamMcCalvy.

Luis Peña was one of the three prospects included in the offer.

@SmithBrickner Can we not act like AJ Preller operates without resources. The Padres payroll routinely surpasses $200m (annually T10 payroll). Meanwhile he has at least 3 of the worst, most immovable contracts in MLB.

He legitimately makes some of the most boneheaded moves in the league.

I’m probably going to revisit some of these prospect packages and write an article soon, but off the top of my head, the #Cardinals absolutely nailed this trade.

Both are ascending & potential T100 guys. May & Romero are good rentals, but nothing crazy. Inter-Div tax is real.

@BobbyMilone29 I don’t understand this. If they were getting a catcher (not named Adley or Goodman), it was going to be someone for a weak-side platoon. Hicks is as much of an automatic out as Wells is against LHP—to top it all off, he’s bad defensively. Wells was never going to be the backup.
