@aarjmo @LFCRed4life @RonByrne2 @henrywinter Agree re inconsistency match by match, but the on-field decision was that Robertson was active in an offside position. VAR agreed or at least didn't deem the on field call to be a clear and obvious error. I think they gave it purely because he's close to Donnarumma and active.

@LFCRed4life @aarjmo @RonByrne2 @henrywinter Correct, the offence wasn't ducking - that was just the action he did which meant he was active in the game in an offside position. If he'd stood still, the ball would’ve hit him and he'd still have been offside, or, if stood onside and ducking, the goal would have stood.

@aarjmo @LFCRed4life @RonByrne2 @henrywinter If Robertson hadn’t ducked, the ball would’ve hit him. That shows how central he was to the play. The refereeing is inconsistent but I can see why both the on field and VAR decision was an offside call (Law 11).

@aarjmo @LFCRed4life @RonByrne2 @henrywinter The law doesn’t require contact or a delayed dive, just that an offside player makes an obvious action impacting the keeper’s ability to play the ball. Standing 2ft in front, in the direct path of the shot, is enough. The keeper has to factor that player in.

@aarjmo @LFCRed4life @RonByrne2 @henrywinter Robertson is in the line of the shot and close enough to affect the keeper's decision-making, even by presence alone, that can be judged as impacting play. Being 2 feet in front and in the ball’s path is enough under the laws, even if he didn’t touch it or obstruct the dive.
