Pretty insignificant, if you ask me. But I did a thing with "Lily" that at least 6 people liked, so there's that.
The link below reveals what I've wrought.
@mr_ramsrud It's not my scene, but I could have another best friend character who might be questioning how he sees the world and just needs a slight nudge ...
Doesn't matter to me where we're flying, I'll happily wingman. Because I'm a romantic like that.
Bet you think I'd say yuri, but why the hell would I want to live somewhere where I'M the asshole if I get the girl?
Slice of life food porn for me, baby! At least I'll know I'm gonna eat well.
@mr_ramsrud Only to have her stolen away by a sudden awakening when she realizes she's in love with my best friend?
No amount of cool can stave off the temptations of sapphic goodness.
@BigSadIsTaken Happy hunting, soldier. Smut's not really my bag, but I'm not one to kink shame.
Hope you like muscle chicks, because the girl built like a brick shithouse is first up in the lineup.
I remember when Sora and Haena was a fluffbomb of a GL manhua.
Then you get to the side story, and wow ... it turned into one of those segments in HBO's "Real Sex" that usually involved Germans and gave whatever was going on in your pants whiplash.
I'm curious, dear readers: what yuri/GL tale do you consider to be the "gold standard" story. If a friend of yours said "suddenly, I wish to read about girls falling in love with girls, but I only have the capacity for ONE story", what title would you recommend they try?
Teiji Ni Agaretara ... is that title really over? I feel like I've been waiting forever for any kind of update on my other favorite OL couple, but the last chapter didn't feel like an ending. (My first favorite OL couple being the ladies from Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon).
@Philociraptor2@L3wiya Meh - grown stepsiblings who only met that day doesn't really weird me out. If they'd grown up as sisters, then yeah, it'd be pretty weird ... but still kind of the same as falling for a childhood friend.
I guess. Who knows? Maybe I've been in the south too long.
@L3wiya@Philociraptor2 Citrus was okay, if a little trashy. I do really like Yuzu's character. I do remember about 5 chapters in I asked out loud if everyone could please stop sexually assaulting Mei.
Then I packed my stuff and left the library since I can't concentrate when people are staring at me.
@L3wiya@Philociraptor2 Yeah, that one was pretty and funny for a couple of chapters, but I dropped it quick when I started feeling like I should put myself on a list for reading past the cover.
That translation did make me more comfortable with the idea of "Americanizing" the dialog in Lily, though.
@L3wiya@Philociraptor2 Oh, for sure (well, except for how it handles patterns in clothes ... it's kind of visually jarring for me). Whispering You a Love Song won me over with its art, too.
@L3wiya Noice. Then I guess I'm waiting on some slow-ass scanlators to do their damn job. It's what I get for relying on a scanlator, I suppose. Really unreliable sort.
(Actually, I like Chads no Teikoku's work and I hope they continue the series.)
@Keyuuji That's my choice, too. I've read waaaay more yuri than is probably healthy for the demographic to which I belong, but Girl Friends is still the gold standard title that I compare all the others to. It's not flawless, but it covers all the right yuri bases.
@ItsLysilya It's aight. Translation could use some work, though. Egotistical scanlators who think they can go around changing scripts to suit their tastes are the worst.
Just tell the damn story, you know?
@Laughysapphy21 From what I understand, it was just wrong place/wrong time. I believe Lily also had stronger backing from the production group Yy's a part of, and even more when they signed on with Bilibili (although that came with censoring some kiss scenes).
