Many such optimizations coming….
@AJA_Cortes The equivalent trend in AI - for a given model size, the models are getting smarter, or alternatively for a given job, the required model size is decreasing, at 10-20x per year. So, every PC, phone or modem would have equivalent intelligence of datacenters in a few years.
Have Israelis ever been the bad guy in a film? I asked, Russians have been, Chinese have been, Iranians have been, Arabs have been, Palestinians have been, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen in Israeli terrorist on screen (other than here, every day).
Has there ever been a political ad that backfired this badly?
Vivek Ramaswamy’s Kalshi odds fell from ~31% to ~20% after releasing the ad with Amy’s mom.
He’s spending $4M running the ad! He should have just apologized after seeing the negative feedback.
Corporate America has discovered that calling layoffs an AI transformation is considerably more fashionable than admitting you’re cutting costs….and apparently, we’re all supposed to accept the explanation.
Barclays cuts thousands of jobs. American Express is cutting jobs.
AI is increasingly part of the conversation.
How convenient.
Now we have Apollo’sTorsten Slok examining the actual financial returns from AI.
Outside the Mag 7 the evidence is rather underwhelming. I mean… I’ve been saying that since early last year if you read my reports.
Revenue per employee is flat…. margins are flat and this supposed great productivity revolution has yet to make much of an appearance in the aggregate numbers.
I don’t doubt what AI can eventually do… Quite the opposite really. But I do find it extraordinary how quickly we’ve accepted that eliminating thousands of positions somehow proves the technology has replaced the people who held them. It proves nothing of the sort. The very fact companies have already been hiring back proves the point.
Companies have been restructuring, consolidating departments, eliminating management layers and reducing payroll for decades. They just didn’t have such an attractive explanation for it… and I would suggest investors start making a distinction between companies actually demonstrating AI-driven productivity and those merely attaching the words artificial intelligence to an otherwise ordinary restructuring.
One is technological progress. The other is cost reduction with a publicist.
Rant over - thanks for reading. 😎
I once tripped pipe for twelve hours in the hot west Texas desert while I had the flu and a 101 fever.
Sorry if I don't have sympathy for software engineers complaining about burnout and hard working conditions.
Most Americans could care less about if Israel gets wiped off the map.
Will Iran destroy its 5 desal plants, 1 major airport, 2 refineries, and 2 major north south highways?
Not our problem. They're a shitty subcontractor that requires constant supervision.

Anyone recognize who’s sitting next to Jared Kushner?
Oh that’s just Leon Black.
The one who’s suing to avoid testimony after he was served a subpoena from the Oversight Committee…regarding Jeffrey Epstein.
No biggie.
