INTERVIEW: Why I wish I had married a celebrity, by Baba Fryo
Before streaming algorithms, international deals, before Afrobeats stars started to sell out the O2 Arena, there was a hood in Ajegunle, Lagos, where legends were made. Among them stood Baba Fryo, a man who didn’t just make music; he documented street life in rhythm. With his 1996 megahit ‘Denge Pose,’ he gave a generation a dance, a voice, and an identity. But while the world grooved, the industry chewed him up, piracy drained his royalties, and the fame that should have built an empire only paid for his shoes. Over two decades later, Baba Fryo, born Friday Igwe, sits down with TheCable Lifestyle’s Testimony Adebisi to reflect on the rise, the fall, the resurrection, and why, despite everything, he never gave up.

There are places we pass through in life… and there are places that become part of who we are.
Manchester will forever be my home.
To the city, the club, and every supporter, my sincerest thank you. These past four years have been unforgettable, filled with moments my family and I will carry with us for the rest of our lives. There simply aren’t enough words to describe the happiness and warmth we’ve felt here.

JERRY LENBANG: "Regional integration offers immense potential. The AfCFTA, the world’s largest free trade area since the formation of the World Trade Organisation, which brings together all 55 member states of the African Union, is projected to boost intra-African trade by 52% growth in annual trade value by 2030, lifting 50 million people out of poverty. Digital innovations are accelerating this promise. The Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), now operational in 18 countries, enables instant, low-cost transactions in local currencies, eliminating the delays and costs of currency conversion. Platforms like Ecobank’s Single Market Trade Hub connect buyers and sellers across 33 countries, integrating payment systems and reducing friction."

STYLE FOCUS: Diiadem — the dramatic, unapologetic fashion queen
Beyond her role as one of the creative forces reshaping Nigeria’s beauty landscape, Diiadem has also built a distinct identity through her boldly dramatic fashion choices.
The beauty entrepreneur, whose real name is Adeola Adeyemi, is the founder of Beauty by AD. She has since expanded her influence into reality television, appearing on the third season of The Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOL).
Even before her time on the reality TV show, she consistently demonstrated that glamour and intentional style go hand in hand. Whether walking a red carpet or commanding attention at cultural events, Diiadem’s outfits speak the language of refinement, confidence, and purpose.
Her wardrobe is a celebration of hyper-femininity — think sculpted corset gowns, body-contouring silhouettes, sheer inserts, feathers, crystals, and high-shine fabrics that demand attention without apology.
