I am particularly excited that the political winds are finally shifting, blowing into the Presidential Race a rare harvest of credible and competent leaders.

For me, that is the beauty of democracy, that the people do not only have more options, but more valuable options for the Presidency.

And on a personal note, as a prolific writer and PR professional, this surplus of quality equally makes for more riveting literary assignments. I am liberated from the grueling labor of endlessly convincing fellow citizens that if they must turn away from my candidate, they must at least seek refuge in another soul of substance.

​If this alternative leader cannot match the towering strides my candidate has taken and will continue to take, at least his track records suggest he won't take us back to Egypt. And that is the fresh Air Donald Duke breathes into a suffocating political atmosphere.

I refuse to let my destiny become collateral damage to the misguided stampede of an ignorant mob.

At least we sha know Donald Duke rebranded Cross River from a relatively obscure state into a nationally and internationally recognized destination for tourism, culture, investment, and environmental excellence.

Abi who doesn't know of Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort?

Who does not know about Obudu Mountain Resort?

Or the Calabar Carnival, which boldly repositioned Calabar to rival global giants in tourism attraction and economic allure?

We can trace tangible, easily verifiable monuments to this man’s name. The same cannot be said for Abacha's mentee, Peter, whose disciples consistently bark at us to embark on a wild goose chase - demanding we "go and verify" the invisible achievements of a mediocre, phantom Messiah.

So I challenge the Obidients today, if your hearts are truly anchored in patriotism and the prosperity of our Nation, and you simply cannot stomach the face of the current President, Donald Duke stands as the flawless embodiment of that desire.

He's younger than Peter.

He was clearly a far superior performer than Peter.

He's undeniably more handsome than Peter.

He speaks with a coherence and intellect that eludes Peter.

He speaks like a real man and his voice is sweeter to the ears than Peter.

You are left with no intellectual sanctuary, no valid excuse to still glue yourselves to a man who consistently embarrasses your collective intellect on the public stage when a titan like Donald Duke is on the ballot.

Unless, of course, Donald’s only sin is not being Igbo, and Peter’s grand crusade is nothing more than a purely tribal agenda.

BREAKING: HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PASSED BILL ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF STATE POLICE

Key Provisions of the Bill:

1. Allow each state to establish its own police force:

■ State governments will be empowered to create and manage State Police alongside the existing federal Nigeria Police Force.

2. Move policing from exclusive federal control:

■ The proposal amends sections of the Constitution, including Sections 197, 214 and 215, to permit policing as a shared federal-state responsibility rather than an exclusively federal function.

3. Create a dual policing structure:

■ The Nigeria Police Force will continue to exist as the national police, while states may establish their own forces for local security needs.

4. Provide constitutional safeguards:

■ The framework reportedly includes oversight mechanisms, operational guidelines, and a clear delineation of powers between federal and state policing authorities.

5. Require enabling state laws:

■ Even after the constitutional amendment, states will need to pass their own laws establishing, funding, and regulating their police services.

SECURITY VOTES ARE NOT GOVERNORS' PERSONAL ASSETS

Insecurity is too sacred a subject to be dragged into the murky stage of partisan quarrels. It is a wound on the nation's flesh, and people of conscience must never turn such pain into political merchandise.

Our brothers and sisters languishing in captivity are not material for campaign nuggets. Their tears should never become fuel for anyone's political engine, nor should their suffering be converted into electoral capital.

Clergymen, as custodians of truth and shepherds of souls, must strive to understand the complexities of insecurity before surrendering to emotion. Men of God who do not first interrogate the architecture of insecurity before opening their mouths risk becoming beautiful voices delivering dangerous ignorance. And Father Mbaka sets a good example others should learn to follow.

If governors receive security votes - and today in unprecedented volumes - then the nation must begin asking the questions that matter rather than assuming there is an El-Shaddai in Aso Rock who must absorb every arrow and carry every cross.

How effectively have state governors collaborated with the Federal Government and the security agencies operating within their domains? What tangible support has been provided with the billions allocated monthly in the name of security?

Security votes are not Governors' personal assets. They are not meant for luxury shopping, girlfriends' allowances, private estates, children's school fees, exotic vacations, spouses' travel packages, mass weddings, political patronage, or other decorative extravagances. The goat entrusted for sacrifice must not become dinner for the priest.

Security votes exist for one purpose: confronting insecurity and protecting lives.

The time has come to open the books.

How far?

In a federal system, insecurity is everybody's business. The Federal Government has a role. The states have a role. The local governments have a role. When the roof is on fire, every hand must carry water.

Every layer of government must tighten its belt, buckle its armour, and treat insecurity as the collective emergency that it truly is.

In this season of noise, we must salute Father Mbaka for choosing enlightenment over emotion and for approaching a matter of grave national importance with the seriousness it deserves.

The recent punishment amendment you proposed for kidnappers and terrorists is a welcome development and has come at the right time.

However, many Nigerians are suffering from kidney and liver diseases because of fake drugs, drinks, and food products. Many others are battling skin cancer, and sadly, some babies have also lost their lives because of these harmful products.

Sir, I kindly appeal to you to consider including those who produce and sell fake drugs, drinks, and food items among those facing severe punishment. I believe this will help reduce the problem and save many lives.
