Food for thought π§ π€. Joeyβs Atomic Essays this past month have provided lots of insight and reflection. Iβve thoroughly enjoyed reading them.
π Physical education gets a bad rap.
π‘ To be honest, I get it. There is a lot that needs to be done to convince the world that we are more than just "gym class"
π In today's Atomic Essay, I share what I wish everyone knew about quality #physed.
π₯΅ Many parents think that physical education is just a place to get kids sweaty.
π§ In reality, P.E. is meant to help kids get the most out of life.
π Read today's Atomic Essay to learn how #physed achieves this and why every parent needs to fight for quality P.E. programs.
Thatβs a wrap for both my students & myself. Pivoting to #outsidelearning for #physed through the seasons was definitely a learning curve but we all had a year of growth. I am staying @LeatherbarrowPS but in a new role as H & PE Coach for @ASD_South @ASDS_PhysEd Happy summer!
The past 16+ months have been a long a difficult time. We all miss attending events, cheering on friends and family, hearing a crowd during play. Please do your part and get vaccinated today. Help New Brunswick #ReturnToPlayNB. #SleevesUpNB
Weβre super excited to receive a portion of our items we purchased with generous funds from @CTJumpstart ! Thank you, thank you! Now, who wants to do an obstacle course? πββοΈ#physed#obstaclecoursesareFUN
Soccer golf for gr 1 & 2 today. Some kicking review & practice first with their team & then a 5-hole round. Gr2s kept a scorecard to include a bit of math.#outsideisbest#physed#crosscurricular
Weβre closing in on the end of a very different school year. Our students rolled along with the ups and downs and inside outs through it all. Today, and every day, we appreciate them! Thanks, DATL students! You ROCK! π
Last week DATL students learned about various disabilities & accessibility. This kinder class experimented with mobility & accessibility in their classroom using a scooter and getting around an obstacle course. Is your classroom wheelchair accessible? #disabilityawarenessweek
Today is National Health & Fitness Day -- a time to celebrate the benefits of activity and share the ways we can move, feel good and share the joy of the great outdoors.
So tell us, how do you plan to get up, get out, and get active today?

Striking skills exploration on this sunny day. We simulated handball, table hockey, tetherball & golf (with a bowling pin instead of a long-handled implement). Students used their math skills to keep track of their own points. #physed#outsideisbest#crosscurricular
Heart Healthy Challenge week#4 was to limit screen time. Students were asked to draw/write what they did instead of using a screen each day. We had great responses! We filled two bulletin boards! Thanks, families, for supporting this program! @HeartandStroke#hearthealthyschools
Mrs. Brenton & our students are grateful to have had the opportunity to learn about First Nations culture & fun activities from @Kapruns1 at @ASDS_PhysEd . We learned The Rabbit Dance, Sledge Jumping, Jump the Creek, Owl Hop, & Tatanka Tatanka over the past 2 mornings. #physed
