Developments after the US strike on Iran's nuclear facilities | June 22, 2025

- Iranian General Staff spokesman: Any transfer of military equipment or radars to Israel - by air or sea - will be considered participation in aggression and will be a legitimate target for Iran.
Mehdi Mohammadi, adviser to the speaker of parliament: Iran expected a strike on Fordow, the facility was evacuated in advance, no serious damage was recorded;

National Nuclear Safety Center: No signs of radioactive contamination were recorded in the Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan areas. There is no threat to the population.

Conclusion: Iran was very keen to avoid the scenario that has now been imposed on it. The Iranians wanted negotiations, and were holding behind-the-scenes talks with the US even while they were bombing each other with Israel. Clearly, the US/Israel plans did not envisage a peaceful resolution to the situation that Israel had created by attacking Iran on June 13.
While it cannot yet be said that Tehran was caught off guard by the US strike, Tehran has once again been put in a difficult position where it cannot help but respond.
