The map shows the spatial layout of the clubs that currently play in the first four levels of the Portuguese system, from the Primera Liga to the Liga Portugal 2, as well as other historic clubs and others of particular geographical spatial distribution.
The Portuguese league is among the most competitive in the world, and the teams are essentially concentrated in the area around the main cities: #Lisbon, #Porto and #Braga.
Despite the remoteness, football is very active in the archipelagos of the #Azores and #Madeira.
The lack of large cities in the western and southern areas of the state is highlighted by the small presence of professional teams in these areas.
