SONY is sending out emails updating and reminding people of their PlayStation terms. short version what it says:

- You don't own your digital games, you rent a license
- If a account closed or banned your games are gone, even paid ones
- PlayStation can record your chats, clips, ip address
- Clips you share, they can sell and put ads on and you get no cut
- their liability is capped at £100! This means if Sony screws something up and it costs you money, the most they'll pay you back is £100, no matter how much you actually lost

Make no mistake, the entire industry is unhappy with how Sony is going about things. But they have to be careful with speaking out. The reason they didn't just storm PlayStation HQ with torches and pitchforks in hand is the fear of repercussions. We still wish all PlayStation first party studios would just stand up collectively. It would work, since Sony wouldn't dare to retaliate against their money makers, but it looks like they are too afraid to organize. And we can sympathize. Everybody has to think twice in the current economic circumstances.

This may sound controversial to some, but I believe the video game industry is overdue for real change. Too many companies have become driven purely by greed, and that starts at the top. We need new leadership standards possibly even a law requiring that the people who run game companies must be gamers first, and business executives second.

The logic is simple: when the person in charge genuinely understands and prioritizes the player experience, the company’s decisions will put the consumer first instead of maximizing profit at all costs.

If you are not a Gamer first when running a gaming company you have no place in the industry.
