@EmmaCrumpler@AXA Thank you so much, I am glad you got sorted out. @AXA CEO Office stance is that they have not identified anything that warrants further investigation. MP on Monday and legal advice today. I'll let you know how we get on 👍
@paullewismoney I lived in my house after a burst pipe filled the house with approximately 4500 litres of water. No mitigation authorised by insurers. I only moved out 18 months later when the electrician checked the mains meter and consumer unit was soaking wet....@AXA
@paullewismoney My house suffered a burst pipe on 21/09/24....no mitigation authorised. House declared uninhabitable by council. @AXA have said there is no need for a mould and pathogen survey.
@MorganClarkLtd Liability was accepted on my claim and loss adjusters insisted on authorising a reinstatement scope before initiating mitigation. The refused to authorise mitigation until final reinstatement costs were agreed. Now dealing with @QuestGates and the claim has stalled.
Disabled veteran’s home should not be left undried for nearly 2 years after an escape-of-water claim.
Now uninhabitable, with independent reports identifying mould/fungal contamination and electrical concerns.
I need a welfare, safety and settlement plan.
Not more delay @AXA
@anna_tims Could you help with an @AXA claim? Liability accepted after a Sept 2024 flood, but home undried and mould-contaminated. Disabled veteran, claim is now blocked until I sign an “optional” QuestGates mandate. Site visit audio recordings and significant written evidence.
I asked @AXA for targeted claim-file records as a #EqualityAct reasonable adjustment so I could know who made key decisions, when and why. Complaints referred me to Data Protection; Data Protection referred it back to Complaints. I am still waiting for a decision. @EASShelpline
Hi, secondary damage was accepted in the claim file and in the loss adjuster’s preliminary report. @AXA Senior Technical Negotiator has now withdrawn that acceptance, saying it “was a mistake.”
I’m just trying to understand how this works.
@AXA@TheFCA ICOBS 8.1.1R requires claims to be handled “promptly and fairly”. AXA’s note stopped mould remediation and strip-out. It later said mould was spreading, cited our “concerns and questions”, and pressed us to approve work without a written scope. Is that compliant?
@AXA@anna_tims I am now being pressed to authorise strip-out without an agreed specialist mould/pathogen management plan, creating a foreseeable risk of spreading contamination, while the house is uninsured and AXA says it will not accept liability for continuing damage.
@AXA Thank you. Your claims team has now contacted me. This is their written summary. AXA withheld mitigation without telling me, reversed the documented secondary-damage position I had relied on, and made an “optional” QuestGates mandate a condition of strip-out and drying.
This is an extract from an email I sent to @AXA CEO on 29/10/24, recording how serious the unresolved claim and living conditions were. Liability was not accepted until 26/11/24. This is not how I feel today. #VeteranMentalHealth#SuicidePrevention#MentalHealthAwareness
The reality of a prolonged insurance claim is a damaged property can become uninsurable. HomeProtect is cancelling my temporary cover after reviewing a timeline supplied by @AXA . My damp, mould-contaminated and electrically unsafe family home will be uninsured again from 3/08/26

I’m pleased that @AXA CEO Office has confirmed that my concerns were brought to Tara Foley’s attention. After nearly two years of trying to secure mitigation of my home, I hope this escalation now leads to urgent and fair action and oversight.
