In 1993, this photo of Belgian soldiers roasting a Somali boy alive went viral.
The soldiers were in Mogadishu as part of a 5,000-strong UN-led "peacekeeping" mission codenamed Operation Restore Hope in Somalia.
The image shocked the world.
What happened in November 1997, was even more shocking — A Belgian court acquitted the two soldiers.
This is the reason @susankihika had War Memorial Hospital closed. She got her hotel, yet the hospital remains closed.

As the country approaches the 25th June commemoration, it is important to remember that constitutional rights are neither granted by the State nor exercised at its pleasure. Article 37 guarantees the right to assemble, demonstrate and present petitions peacefully.
The primary responsibility of law enforcement during public protests is to secure the perimeter and isolate criminal actors, without suppressing the constitutional liberties of citizens. The LSK will actively monitor the ground to ensure that state organs strictly respect the rule of law and offer assistance to any citizen adversely affected by unconstitutional acts of the State.

No CS, PS or any senior Government official attends Court for mitigation and sentencing for contempt of Court unless assured that the Court will apologize for interfering with their busy schedule. Ever wondered why Fred Matiang’i and others never appeared before Mr Justice GV Odunga on the Miguna Miguna matter?
Today, I joined @TIKenya, Executive Director, @SheiMasinde, @DiakoniaAfrica & partners for the World Whistleblower Day regional forum.
The harsh reality across East Africa: whistleblower protection is dangerously weak. The eye that witnesses injustice deserves protection, not persecution! We must urgently push for robust legislative reforms to protect those who courageously stand up for the public interest. ✊🏾🇰🇪

Being a Ronaldo fan used to mean hating Messi by default.
But it's getting impossible to hate pure brilliance.
We're wasting time arguing when we should just be grateful we got to witness both 🐐

Three suspects, including a Member of County Assembly (MCA), are now behind bars following a police operation at the Roasters area of Nairobi that led to the recovery of a Glock pistol.
The suspects, Patrick Karani, the MCA for Embakasi East Sub-County, along with Stephen Kimathi Karimoni and Stanley Njogu Irungu, were apprehended in the MCA’s office after detectives swooped in and recovered the weapon, with a magazine of 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Preliminary investigations reveal this firearm was being held without a valid license.
With the Glock and its ammunition now secured as exhibits, the trio remains in custody as detectives process them in preparation for court proceedings.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations reiterates that unlawful possession of firearms poses a significant threat to public safety and warns that those found in breach of firearms laws will face the full force of the law.
