@homewarestore Forgive the misspelled word 'compliant' instead of complaint. This is the response from the Head of Operations. Maybe a Freudian slip as there was nothing compliant with respect to product quality.
@homewarestore- still no response from your Head of Operations and Guest Experience as to why the Cognac Madison Sofa is being advertised on your shop floor and on your Instagram page.
The store manager at your Sandton branch acknowledged in an email (15th January 2026) that (in quotes) “based on the supplier’s feedback, an alternative hide with the same or similar characteristics to the one on our shop floor is not available”. Yet @homewarestore continues to promote this sofa. I am awaiting an official response as to why customers are still under the erroneous impression that the cognac leather is available that is similar to what is advertised (see attached). Does that brown leather delivered replicate what is advertised??
@TheNCC_RSA I am awaiting an official response from @homewarestore before lodging the complaint. Thank you for your email.
@homewarestore@homewarestore when you delivered the store display model the cushions were worn. I was not given a new sofa in cognac leather as the advertised leather is not available. Please remove this image as customers are being misled in my opinion.
@homewarestore I am still awaiting an official response from you. Is the cognac leather for the Madison sofa available or not? Please see the pictures attached of the cognac leather sample hanging on display in your Sandton branch and what I received. I didn't receive a burgundy tone but a brown tone. I was advised that you do not have this cognac leather available and that the brown was the closest. In my opinion this is a very deceptive consumer practice. Your Krammervile store is still promoting a cognac sofa. My question - why did you give me a free sofa from your store and an apology that you couldn't reproduce anything resembling the displayed sofa? And why is @homewarestore still promoting the same Madison sofa in cognac when you cannot manufacture to that specification?
@homewarestore@homewarestore I ordered this cognac sofa and received a brown leather sofa. Eventually you gave me a free store display model as your store cannot supply the cognac leather. This is dishonest in my opinion as customers are being deceived.
@homewarestore I would like a response to my complaint about the Madison sofa in the 'Cognac' leather. Your store in Sandton had a leather sample hanging next to the Madison sofa (See attached picture). In January, after receiving a brown sofa (see attached) and after much obfuscation I eventually received an admission that this cognac leather is no longer available and has not been available for some time. Yet 8 months later and @homewarestore is still promoting a cognac one seater Madison at your Krammervile store (see attached picture). In my opinion @homewarestore is engaging in questionable practices which @TheNCC_RSA needs to address. Please clarify if this precise cognac leather is available. If so I would like @homewarestore to explain why I was given a battered Madison sofa from your Sandton branch and not a new sofa as expected.
@TheNCC_RSA I have been trying to register on your official website but was not sent any login details. I have tried several times. I wish to formally lodge a complaint against @homewarestore for false advertising (see attached photos of what they advertise on their shop floors and what the consumer receives). Please advise how I can lodge an official complaint so that this brand/store can be formally investigated for unfair consumer practices that extends to multiple products displayed. If they get away with blatant false advertising then there is no such thing as Consumer Protection rights in South Africa. Shame on @homewarestore and BUYER BEWARE!!! See their Orchid Bloom diffuser especially what they advertise and what the customer receives. The received product smells so differently and has a different colour. Explain this to me!!!!
@carteblanchetv please can you investigate @homewarestore for false advertising of leather sofas on their shop floors despite knowing that the leather shade is not available and hasn't been for years.
@Talk702 please contact me about this matter. See attached pictures of what I ordered based on a store floor placement and what I actually received (ordered burgundy cognac shade and received brown). I have written emails and voice recordings from @homewarestore
Their Head of Operations and Guest Experience wrote that I was threatening their brand. Surely false advertising by @homewarestore is a legitimate threat to their own brand. See attached photos of what I ordered and what I received. They are still advertising this cognac sofa on their shop floor despite knowing full well that this leather is NOT AVAILABLE. South Africa appears to condone false advertising and @homewarestore can flout consumer protection laws. I also just recently paid for their "Orchid Bloom" diffuser based on a tester and guess what? I received a different colour and scent. Staff lied and said it was the same (see pictures). This story needs to be exposed. What you order and what you get cannot be guaranteed. BUYER BEWARE!!
