On and off the field, Roberto Clemente embodied class and humanitarianism.
The Hall of Fame joins the baseball community in celebrating The Great One today and every day. #ClementeDay
#Pirates trade K. Hayes for 34 year-old relief pitcher who will be a free agent after the season and a class A shortstop. Nothing to help the team next year. Can you say salary dump?
Cherington adds to his miserable legacy
In analyzing the trade prospects of all 30 MLB teams, ESPN’s Jeff Passan had this to say about what the #Pirates objective would be at the deadline: “Continue the ruse of acting like they want to win when the approach suggests otherwise.”
Superbly stated.
My finished painting of Roberto Clemente catching a drive off the bat of Henry Aaron, June 9, 1962 at County Stadium. Just looking at this again gives me the shakes.

This is today. And every 13th of October at 3:36 p.m. since 1960. Maz never fails to clear that Forbes Field fence where they gather to hear the entire broadcast leading up to it.
Only in Pittsburgh.
Greatest hit in baseball history.
Maz himself is 87. Happy Maz Day, everyone.
“He played a kind of baseball that none of us had ever seen before,” wrote the late Roger Angell.
Today we remember and honor the legacy of Roberto Clemente, one of the world’s most revered figures. #ClementeDay

On this date in 1971, Roberto Clemente made one of the greatest catches in the history of The Astrodome as he grabbed Bob Watson’s line drive while running full speed into the fence in right field. Steve Blass threw a six-hit complete game in the 3-0 Bucco victory.
#OTD in 2001, Bill Mazeroski was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame via the Veterans Committee. Here’s my painting of undoubtedly his most famous moment, winning the 1960 World Series for his @Pirates with a walk-off home run, based off of the photography of Marvin Newman.
The Pirates are an easy target, and guilty of painting themselves with a bullseye on their chests. You keep asking for my comments about what others have to say about the team, today I'll give you what I got. #LetsGoBucs#ITdoubleB#Pirates https://t.co/vPeQrH3Egz
