Jim Morrison driving his Shelby Mustang, 1969. Jim Morrison owned a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, which he called “The Blue Lady.” This car was a gift from Elektra Records president Jac Holzman after the band’s first #1 hit, “Light My Fire.” Morrison’s Shelby was a Nightmist Blue GT500, equipped with a 355-horsepower, 428-cubic-inch V8 and a four-speed manual transmission—one of only about 2,000 built.
