Chancellor of the Gulf Theological Seminary, married to @gloriafurman with two beautiful daughters, Aliza and Norah and two amazing sons, Judson and Troy
There’s a glaring contradiction between Thomas Kinkade’s tumultuous life and the scenes he painted. But this contradiction provides an opportunity for reflection.

This was the last thing @TimKellerNYC ever said to Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
In God’s providence, it was scheduled to be shared with Redeemer congregants on May 19—the day he died (three years ago today).
“When believers come into union with Christ, they are imprinted with all the benefits that Christ possessed at his resurrection/ascension.” 🛞

I was happy to endorse David Helfin's new release, Purpose in Pain. Anyone going through chronic illness or suffering would benefit from his comforting words. And yes, there is purpose in pain and it will not be wasted.
I had the joy of teaching our Gulf Theological Seminary church planting class this week alongside Pastor Allen Mandap. Allen is a GTS graduate and now the lead pastor of Providence Church of Dubai. I'm so thankful for all that God has done in this new church, which launched in January!
I've always loved Nathan Partain's music. I've been listening to his song: One Thing I Have Asked (Psalm 27) on repeat for the last hour.

I've seen many posts of former Senator Ben Sasse's interview on 60 Minutes, which is excellent. But I also appreciated the short 15-minute town hall he held, where he answered a few questions. During both the interview and the town hall, I found myself in tears on several occasions. Such profound wisdom and hope from a dying man.

It was great having Gloria with me this week at our Gulf Theological Seminary church planting class to talk about her experience in church planting. It’s always a highlight of the class for me!
Reading on leadership for my Creating Effective Organizations PhD class, and was convicted by this quote from the book: Top Ten Mistakes Leaders Make:
"Leadership can be dangerous. To understand this, study world history and the lives of great and terrible leaders and what they accomplished through others. We who are in leadership can, on one hand, move men, women, and mountains for tremendous good. On the other hand, we hold the power to do irreparable damage to our followers by the mistakes we make.
The greater our sphere of leadership influence, the higher our impact on the world around us. And the more people we lead, the greater the potential damage caused through our poor decisions and actions. This is one of the sobering realities we must face when we accept the mantle of leadership." - Hans Finzel
I’m thankful for a successful defense of the first stage of my dissertation for my PhD in Organizational Leadership. My coursework will be done at the end of the year and the big defense will take place in early 2027. But this is one more step toward the finish line!
What a wonderful tribute to a hero of the faith, Dr. D.A. Carson! He was one of our very first Gulf Theological Seminary visiting professors in our first months of existence. I love the cover of this issue — a nod to the amazing NSBT series. This tribute features articles by the very authors of those volumes on their subject matter. Incredible. HT: @DrGladd

I enjoyed having Redeemer Church of Dubai senior pastor, TJ Smith teaching a lecture on church planting cross-culturally in our Gulf Theological Seminary church planting class this week. It was incredibly helpful as our students consider what it will be like to start churches in places like Nigeria, India, and throughout the Middle East.
Registrations are live for the Gulf Theological Seminary 2026-27 Foundations Year.
Foundations Year is a one-year program designed to give students the basic biblical knowledge needed for fruitful ministry and further theological study. Foundations Year is the starting place for all other GTS programs, but may also be completed as a stand-alone program.
We have live locations in North/Central Dubai, South Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Online. Don't miss this opportunity that 700+ students have taken part in over the past few years to get world-class Bible teaching in the UAE and beyond! https://t.co/f2bzBUlchx
