How do I avoid getting banned on Reddit?

Lots of brands have been asking this question, as they’ve been facing this issue on Reddit, especially lately as Reddit has tightened its monitoring of accounts that have the sole aim of promoting.

Here are some ways you can avoid getting banned on the platform…

1. Use an unbranded account

From my experience over the years marketing on the platform, I’ve found that having an unbranded account works best when getting on Reddit.

You can still use a brand account, but you can also have an unbranded account that blends in naturally with other Redditors.

This helps keep the guard of the subreddit members you’re targeting down and allows them to engage with you more naturally.

2. Don’t start by promoting

Never start by promoting your brand, product, or service as soon as you get on the platform.

Take some time (at least 3–4 weeks) to get used to the platform and warm your account up properly.

You also need to earn Reddit’s trust through karma points on your account.
