If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
~ Mark 8:34
“Deny yourself” means total abandonment of your life to God.
Denying yourself means saying “no” to all you want
from life so you can say, “Yes” to all that God wants

“I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”

Life is a gift that we too often take for granted. We can become trapped by our past or consumed with worry about our future—and sometimes we do both at the same time.
But God wants us to live in the moment, appreciating His blessings and making the most of the life He has given us. As Christians, we should not only enjoy life, but honor God with it.
Here’s the takeaway: Live each day as though it were your last—because one day, it will be.
That’s why Moses prayed, “Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom” (Psalm 90:12).
A wise person remembers that life is short, eternity is long, and every day is a gift from God.
“Every morning, I tell you what I need, and I wait for your answer.”
~ Psalm 5:3
Give God your waking thoughts.
Give God your waiting thoughts.
Give God your whispering thoughts.
Give God your waning thoughts.

“Guard the doorway of your heart. The more selective you are about seeds, the more delighted you will be with the crop.”

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
~ Psalm 46:1
“Our Lord is not merely a distant spectator of our concerns, far removed from us in a far-off sky. He is a present help.”

“The first great and primary business to which I ought to attend every day was, to have my soul happy in the Lord.
The first thing to be concerned about was . . . how I might get my soul into a happy state, and how my inner man might be nourished.”
~ George Müller
Every year, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring.
They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died.
France also gave us this land as American soil. #MemorialDayWeekend

R. C. Sproul: “God just doesn't throw a life preserver to a drowning person. He goes to the bottom of the sea, and pulls a corpse from the bottom of the sea, takes him up on the bank, breathes into him the breath of life and makes him alive.”
“Stand up, stand up for Jesus, Stand in his strength alone; The arm of flesh will fail you, Ye dare not trust your own. Put on the gospel armor,
Each piece put on with prayer; Where duty calls or danger, Be never wanting there.”
~ George Duffield, Jr., 1858
“Believing the gospel is becoming the gospel.
In other words, once you’ve learned that Jesus loves you, you need to extend his love to others.
Otherwise, the love of God sours.”
~ Paul Miller
