Conservatives and Liberals know a healthy American economy always has an approximate 30% immigrant workforce. BiPartisan Political Immigration Reform is the solution. We need the political will.
-Secure the Border. Make it difficult to cross illegally. Increasing the Border Patrol resources and funding.
-Citizenship for Dreamers. Children brought here by undocumented parents. They have spent their entire life here.
-Undocumented immigrants get a pathway to citizenship but join the end of the line. Until they receive citizenship they have protected status to work and access anything any citizen gets. Your place in line is determined by how long you have been here:30 years, 20, 10, 5 years. No criminal record. Criminal record gets you deported. Misdemeanor criminal charges gets you deported with the ability to apply for reentry and citizenship application after 5-10 year probationary period.
-Increased the funding for the Asylum Application Program and immigration courts to review those applications because the cases are backed up for years. Expedite the asylum review process with the staff and resources.

Every politician knows reform would solve it but the rhetoric gets Republicans elected by the intolerant in this country. They also know any great economy has a 30% immigrant workforce. A strong economy creates jobs dispelling the mythology that immigrants are taking jobs away from others. Thats why they come up with “guest workers” programs that pay you ONLY when you go back. Slave labor because no one goes back because it allows them safe entry into the country without danger.

Most of the undocumented people have been here for decades, paying taxes and contributing to the economic success of this country. Ask the dairy industry in Wisconsin, the chicken processing plants in Mississippi, the cattle industry in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, the agriculture and construction industry throughout the country. The greatest resource we have is the American workforce. For generations it was made up of immigrants who come to build this country and a better life. Documented and undocumented. They are a part of our economic engine no matter what their status is. Clarify the immigration status of people who have been here most of their lives, reform the system to direct those who desire to come in the future, and secure the border.
