Independent Alberta Taxes. 20% flat Personal income tax after $50k. 15% flat Corporate Tax. 7% GST. No property or education taxes. Would it drive away or attract business and skilled people?
@Michphil1998 Using municipal taxpayer funds to campaign on provincial matters is unethical and colluding as a team may be in breach of the Local Authorities Election Act and the Elections Finance Act if they used any city staff or facilities to produce this video. Register as a TPA.
@Zone3Garden You’re probably more correct than I. I take a very cynical view of the motivations of politicians. She’s dealt us a shitty hand but we need to focus on winning the referendum.
@Zone3Garden If someone came along and could get her approval numbers, then I'd be interested. My concern is that we end up with an Arab Spring or Syrian Civil War moment. We get her out only for her to be replaced with ISIS.
@Zone3Garden There are independence people in her inner circle but I think the compromise is for us to win the October vote before she comes out for leaving. She's been bitten once for changing her mind. We won't win if we're not organized and funded though. That should be our focus.
@Donald1032356@ikwilson Info graphics on X ain't going to get us over the top. You can yell all you want but that doesn't convince 32% of the 70% that would vote No to vote Yes. An organized, well funded campaign run by professionals who know how to convince people will get us further.
@Donald1032356@Zone3Garden In order for the independence movement to have more influence it has to be better organized and well funded. Smith raised a million bucks last night. Where do we send our money? There's nothing there to take it. The APP should be leading this but they're not and I'm a member too
@Donald1032356@Zone3Garden I'm just using him as an example. Smith's polling over 50% approval across the province. Kenney was at 30% when he got the boot. Don't let the 57% of us that favour independence fool you. A large percentage supports Smith. I'm indifferent but I do support the UCP as a government
@Zone3Garden@Donald1032356 Trudeau got replaced with the LPC HQs and donor’s choice. The media were onside with the elbows up and anti-American shtick. It kept Pierre from gaining traction plus they ran a shitty campaign and couldn’t adjust on the fly. Thank Jennie for that.
@Zone3Garden Who's the next Smith? Mitch? Jeff? and we're a year and a half from an election with a ton of Ottawa promises coming down the pipe. I know they're bullshit but 200 people in an echo chamber on X won't change that.
@Donald1032356@Zone3Garden Call me what you want. Do you honestly think Mitch has all the files in hand to run as leader and then win an election? He can't even organize a fucking campaign with a ton of money and people chomping at the bit to help. I'm a 5th gen AB separatist too.
@Prairielily22@ikwilson Realpolitik time. She raised $1 million last night and she can legally use that to campaign against independence with an organized professional team. We got a guy selling t-shirts and another guy that wants to stage a coup.
Premier Wab Kinew @WabKinew just called building a data centre “slavery to surveillance capitalism”. Really…
Welcome to Canada, global investors!
- it is an NDP art form to wrap economic illiteracy in the self-righteous language of social action and climate alarmism.
- and to borrow billions in debt, lose jobs and let cities decline into drug dens while picking up transfer grant welfare cheques from Alberta.
Alberta - which just created more jobs than the rest of Canada combined - is about to announce some of the largest digital - and other - infrastructure deals in the nation.
Alberta with its referendum is still attracting more capital than anywhere else in Canada.
Because global capital is less threatened by direct democracy than by bankrupt premiers thinking essential digital infrastructure is “capitalist surveillance”.
