@NicholasTyrone So how would you stop the likes of Rishi Sunak having an effective tax rate of just 22% (per his 22/23 tax return) by masking his income as capital gains when anyone with his level of income should be paying over 40%?
@Jenny_1884 Nothing stopping you getting in an overloaded dinghy with 30 other hapless passengers and taking your chances crossing 20 miles of dangerous water next time you go to France if you fancy it
@SamaHoole Looking on the bright side, this mythical son sells the rest of the farm and is now sitting on the best part of £3m in cash making £120k in interest every year and never has to work again. And the price of beef doesn't go up because it's produced more efficiently in Brasil.
@jlmitch2004@emilyhewertson@sharrond62 I would be prepared to bet that the majority are now in neighbouring private schools. Once a private school kid, always a private school kid!
@bulldogdozer@GeorgesStPierre Very few "fit" folk can run that pace for even 400m! I count myself in that category (ran 28 miles yesterday, cycle swim and run every week) and am not even close!
@Wass2020@Frances_Coppola@Fairsportforwg Parkrun is different things for different people! At the front it's very much a race with a huge focus on times and positions. Further back its much less so.
Just the same as events labeled as "races" eg London Marathon, ie a race for some, a personal challenge for others
@tomwhx Any well run and successful private school will carry on as normal, the mismanaged and failing ones will continue to close, as they always have done
@Josh1139329977@mamboitaliano__ Tbh, we just walked out to the viewpoint, spent literally 20 seconds taking pics, and then suffered the abuse and walked off. Nobody owns the mountains!
@tomhfh Er, who exactly is going to "drill our own"? Last time I checked we didn't have a nationalised oil extraction company, and even if we did, the tory govt sold off all the rights to multi national corporations long ago
