When your health insurer wants to give a "because covid" cash rebate, but don't have your bank details and the resulting mail is indistinguishable from a prince scam
Til: TP-Link modems will happily cook themselves to the point of deformation if you accidentally let a rug fall behind the couch.
Thankfully the giveaway was flaky wifi and not, you know, the house burning down!
First for me, but I guess such is random noname hw: typo on the silkscreen.
Was left wondering why things were not working after naturally picking the wrong gpio23.
The left one should read 33 :/
So. The trick is to hit 'custom' but then NOT pick from the list, but 'setup manually' and type the SSID *which we just ignored in the list*.
It seems only then do we get to type custom settings without first requiring working dhcp.
Naturally.
Ok, what am I missing when setting up #ps4?
Wifi->custom asks for SSID and passkey. Ok. This then fails to get an IP (I see dhcp requests in Wireshark)
... Which is exactly why I'm even going the custom route in the 1st place, I know there's no dhcp here
Must one first receive a valid dhcp lease in order to advance to the screen which allows setting manual addr/mask/gw/dns?
This seems wrong, so it's gotta be me just missing something obvious, right?
Now for the 2nd 90%: polish.
Making it pretty (both code cleanups and physically), better checks and reporting when things go wrong, and probably tweaks to data source and art/viz.
But still, progress!
@andrewgodwin Some janky python on a server to build the image, then save to .png for debug, or stream packed nibbles so the esp can kick SPI transactions straight from the dowoad buffer
@andrewgodwin Very nice! I think it was a lack of design skills which doomed my esp32 attempt to the heap of unfinished projects.. I may have to borrow your server code!
