Participating in multiple sports can help student-athletes develop a broader range of skills, both physically and mentally.

Different sports challenge athletes in different ways, helping build adaptability, coordination, confidence, and resilience. They can also provide variety that keeps participation fun and engaging throughout the year.

At its core, education-based athletics are about helping students grow through their experiences, and multi-sport participation is one way that growth can take shape.

As an AD, remind your athletes as we head into preseason practice, here are a few reminders that will help make this season a successful one.

Coaches make decisions based on what they believe is best for the team. Trust the process, even when you don’t always understand every decision.

Being held accountable is a privilege. It means your coaches believe in your potential and are investing in your growth. Being coached means they see something in you worth developing.

Learn from both winning and losing. Success builds confidence, and adversity builds character. Both are valuable teachers.

Be a great teammate. Encourage others, celebrate their success, and put the team ahead of yourself.

The work you put in this summer will reveal itself this fall. There are no shortcuts. Preparation always shows.

Learn to struggle well. Every athlete faces challenges. How you respond to adversity will define you more than any scoreboard.

Never quit on your teammates. They are counting on your commitment, effort, and attitude every single day.

Give your best effort daily. You can control your attitude, your work ethic, and how you compete.

Finally, remember this is your season, not your parents’ season. Take ownership of your experience, embrace the challenges, and make the most of every opportunity.

Have a great season, compete with pride, and represent your school with character, class, and commitment.

What a great reminder, especially to say thanks to coaches and officials! Both groups do this in addition to full-time jobs and receive very little pay. A simple "thank you" can go a long way to show appreciation for all they do for kids and communities!

Their gift of time—often given beyond the workday—helps shape the lives of student-athletes and strengthens the future of education-based athletics.

Their dedication, leadership, and commitment have never been more important.

A simple "thank you" can remind someone that their efforts matter and are making a difference every day.
