@Righdearna@BenRamanauskas I know many Lithuanians and have spoken with some of their grandparents who were very Germany leaning.
If the choice is Hitler or Stalin, which one would you choose?
@BenRamanauskas They didn't have any practical way to fight to be fair, and allying themselves with GB would have invited attack - but there were lots of Irish in the British military - including my own ancestors.
@Chunkyferryman@Fergie_CJ@RangersJim She's a her - she's lived in England since she was 13. She's paid no income tax etc in Scotland. She does have family there, but no property.
There are 730,000 other Scottish born people living in England and Wales - they'd all get a vote?
@CRobertsonUK@citizentommy Such nonsense. It wasn't the British who raised the UVF - they were raised in direct opposition to British government policy. There'd be a united Ireland without them.
You're right in one sense about Scotland though - independence, if it happened today would tear it apart.
@Rod__Mason No. Because there are more variables than just the supply.
Russia can't invade its own under equipped neighbour, it's not going to attack a modern military power that is part of a wider defensive alliance.
@TonyKeithmxin@BowesChay Steady on, Sharpe. Next you will be outraged he has never dodged canister shot or packed his own flintlock. Quoting clichéd war novels does not make you a modern military authority.
@JmmsTawa@tober70986277 He was a one hit wonder really: Diplomacy failed when France abandoned Scotland in the 1303 Treaty of Paris. Wallace had no office, no army, and was excluded from the nobility's 1304 Strathord submissio - he was an outlaw fighting skirmishes, not leading a war.
@Tedii69@tober70986277 True:England was always the first "colony"
The Norman Conquest drastically degraded peasant life: independent Anglo-Saxon smallholders were stripped of customary rights, forced into unfree serfdom, and subjected to brutal Forest Laws under an alien, French-speaking ruling elite
@BowesChay The Pyongyang subway also looks stunning. Is subway beauty a reliable measure of how great a country is? And is it the measure that you think it is?
@GreenDr89273884@LeMinh1308@BowesChay No he couldn't, Russia would be finished. Even in a war time economy they are only spending around double what the UK alone does on defence.
Putin can't even successfully invade his under equipped next door neighbour - he's a joke.
@Chunkyferryman@Fergie_CJ@RangersJim What is a "Scot"
Is my next door neighbour, who speaks with a Dundee accent, but who has lived here in England for the last 40 years a "Scot"?
@mrsDugskullery There won't be WW3, Russia can't even successfully invade its neighbour who has outdated military equipment. It has no chance fighting a modern military.
