@ravdemel@nicolelampert This is about connecting with friends. Hanging out with your friends online is free. Organising to go out with friends requires your parents to be free (to give a ride) or public transport (not free). Books still cost money and also depends if you live close to a library.
@0xNifty@nicolelampert Allotment isn’t a great example since the waiting list for them is crazy. If you’re in the right town/city I agree but a lot of the time kids are not. Personally as a kid, since my friends from school were so far away we could only resort to talking online and playing games
@geri115@nicolelampert - Book costs money
- Bike costs money
- Transport to see your friends costs money (assuming they’re not local)
- When you’re out with friends you probably want to go get something to eat (costs more money than food at home)
- Running in the fields can get a bit stale after 10yo
@bxns_hyfr It took me 14 months to get a job in 2025. In that time I applied to over 700 mostly minimum wage positions. Back in 2020 before I did my studies I got a job in retail with no experience, no qualifications and 20% above minimum wage and it was the first place I applied for.
