@HarrisonNeedha3@The_Forty_Four What a stupid comment, how was it bigger for Sunderland? Your probably now going to lose your best players and spend years being a mid table championship side, but most people want that than to be playing in the premier league every week, idiot
@arghappy@klfc116 So what if he had signed the 6 year deal, then left for nothing youโd still all be crying, just 2 years later than you are now, pathetic fanbase
@TilehurstRed@Him_selfpro@caleb75934321@SkySportsNews There form is laughable, MGW has more yellow cards than goals or assists and adoi has 5 goals and 2 assists in 25 games, theyโre hardly setting the league alight
Can we talk about Daniel James?
The Leeds United winger is the only Championship player to have scored 20+ goals and registered 10+ assists from open play since the start of last season and seems to have finally kicked on from the stop-start nature of the early part of his career.
Playing as the right winger in Daniel Farke's 4-2-3-1, the 26-year-old has been a mainstay in the best attack across England's top four tiers. The high-octane approach that the side approach suits him to a tee.
He has always been a grafter and the threat of his pace has caused issues for defenders throughout his career, what has stunted him at times has been his ball-striking at that pace. During his time at Manchester United in particular, he'd often scuff shots or underhit crosses on the break which would get the Old Trafford crowd on his back and would have then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's mind no doubt wandering to his star-studded bench. That Manchester United team relied heavily on counter-attacking, too, which meant that these moments were often make or break.
Things are a little different at Leeds. As Sunderland found out earlier in the week, this side are excellent at generating wave after wave of attacks. They move the ball fluidly through the thirds and have various ways of breaking sides down, which means that their forwards are able to remain calm and know that they'll probably get another chance if they fluff their lines. This foundation has brought the absolute best out of Dan James in particular.
In the Championship this season, James ranks in the top ten players in the following metrics: goals, assists, expected assists, shots, shots on target, passes into the box and crosses. He's averaging 0.76 G/A p90, the best rate of his career to date. His 36 goal involvements since the start of last season is the best of any winger in the second tier. He's entering his peak years (and surely re-entering the Premier League) as a man transformed.
