The only Cardinal in the history wins the home run derby, and we’re back to being public enemy #1 like it’s the 2000’s all over again.
We are so back, boys.

The MLB Draft is such a joke.
- Manfred mispronounces the 1st overall pick
- Then, he coughs while announcing the 5th pick
- Change channels after 10 picks
- TV only airs 40 picks out of ~600
- Construction crew LOUDLY tears down stage while the 3rd round is being streamed
James Dolan invited his friend Donald Trump to watch Game 3. In order to do that, they have to ban the organic, historically joyous parties happening outside MSG for fans who can't afford to be inside. Modern sports in a nutshell
@thatisaacrudd@Steven_Hyden@CrotserJeremiah Totally! In terms of modern indie-country I think MJ Lenderman is one of the best lyricists since Jason Molina / David Berman. His lyrics are funny and biting while still being topical on happenings of the world. Ryan Davis, Ratboys, Greg Mendez are a few others I love.
@thatisaacrudd@Steven_Hyden@CrotserJeremiah Nah, I’m not a Tik Tok guy myself but I know that’s where he struck it big with the anti-ICE/Trump stuff. Which, the sentiment is great! I just think there’s a lot better musicians out there saying similar things in a more nuanced and interesting way.
@thatisaacrudd@Steven_Hyden@CrotserJeremiah Damn, hate to be disqualified. I’ll take the Goo Goo Dolls guy’s side next time over the music critic I guess.
There’s zero nuance to Jesse Welles’ music. It’s all on the nose and Tik-Tokable stuff like “Good vs. Ice” and, to me, feels disingenuous. Just my two cents.
@thatisaacrudd@Steven_Hyden@CrotserJeremiah Hyden wrote an in-depth article about Welles last year that is linked in this thread that answers your question. I’m not out to get this guy either but his stuff is pretty bland and he didn’t “make it” until he started doing these songs about the happenings in culture.
@thatisaacrudd@Steven_Hyden@CrotserJeremiah We’ll see if this guy lasts. There’s a level of disingenuousness to what he’s doing considering he’s hopped all over the musical map in the name of fame.
@thatisaacrudd@Steven_Hyden@CrotserJeremiah He poked holes in the guy calling him “a kid” who was “starting out” — this guy has been looking for a schtick where he could make it big and finally found one. Good on him for that, but it’s a fair thing to point out.
@Markmoody493511@JeffHechtAZ I think it’s mostly just Twitter being a cesspool of dipshits trying to dunk on people instead of having an dialogue, but I have also met a lot of insufferable baseball fans too so there’s definitely something to your theory.
