I see this differently.

There is nothing inherently wrong with a government leveraging revenue it already collects to finance infrastructure, provided there is transparency, accountability, and clear benefit to the people paying that levy.

If workers are being taxed through the housing levy, then the real question should be: will the money build homes, roads, services, jobs, and infrastructure that directly improve their lives?

Governments exist to use collective resources at scale. That is the whole point of taxation. If structured properly, borrowing against predictable revenue can help deliver development now, during the lifetime of those contributing, instead of waiting decades.

What must be rejected is not the idea of leveraging revenue itself, but reckless borrowing, corruption, lack of public accountability, and projects that do not benefit ordinary Kenyans.

So the debate should be honest: not every loan is immoral, and not every tax-backed project is wrong. The issue is whether Kenyans are getting real value, real infrastructure, and real improvement in livelihoods from the money being deducted. @SokoAnalyst

That's what a U.S. official tells Axios President Trump unloaded on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a heated phone call over Israel's military actions in Lebanon.

Trump was reportedly furious that Israel's moves risked blowing up U.S. diplomatic efforts in the region, at one point also asking Netanyahu: "What the f*** are you doing?"

Netanyahu’s comments further demonstrates two fundamental truths that the Trump administration is not addressing:

1. We have fundamentally different objectives in Iran & the region than Israel does. Israel is determined to take out all threats & rivals, from Iran to Lebanon. They are comfortable with a brutal drawn out conflict. We are not, we want a deal with Iran & the SOH open. Our interests in Lebanon are very limited, we don’t want Israel’s war with Hezbollah to interfere in our negotiations with Iran.
We can’t be partners with a country that’s has an entirely different objective than we do.

2. Iran believes they are winning by keeping control of the SOH & using Hezbollah in Lebanon, there is no lasting military solutions to either of these problems and we can’t win at the negotiating table with Iran controlling these two factors.

The best course of action is to walk away, deprive Iran of U.S. targets & their justification for their aggression in the Gulf & Lebanon. With Iran, use sanctions relief as a carrot to eventually get concessions once the SOH has reopened.

With Israel, drastically limit the military assistance we provide them to force them off the offense.
