@kipkoecheruiyot Kwale and Kilifi, same. Once a passenger dropped a phone in a matatu at Ukunda, raced back to find it gone. The conductors found out the suspect who had sat next to him, sought him and recovered the phone.
I visited Coast, settled because of the people.
Mombasa has one of the strongest cultures of trust. You’ll board a tuktuk, get to your destination, send the fare via MPesa, and the driver will simply turn his tuktuk and leave without checking their phone.
I recently took this photo of a family of elephants only meters outside Meru Town. If they clear the forest to make way for a State Lodge, what will they do with the elephants? Shoot them?
DRC has the Ebola outbreak.
Uganda too has reported cases.
Now look at the map.
Rwanda borders both DRC and Uganda.
Tanzania borders both DRC and Uganda.
South Sudan borders both DRC and Uganda.
Burundi borders DRC.
Zambia borders DRC.
None of them seem to be in panic mode.
But Kenya, hundreds of kilometres away from the outbreak, is setting up quarantine centres, panicking and acting like ground zero.
Make it make sense.
Many of us warned from the beginning that William Ruto's decision to allow the Ebola facility in Laikipia was a mistake by Ruto.
Because let's be honest.
If that facility was never approved, would Kenya be talking about quarantine centres all over the country today?
DRC has experienced Ebola outbreaks for decades(over 15).
Uganda has had multiple outbreaks too(over 6).
Through all those years, Kenya relied mainly on border screening, surveillance and monitoring.
We never saw this level of panic.
So what exactly has changed?
The outbreak isn't new.
Ebola isn't new.
The only new variable is Ruto & his decision in Laikipia.
Today, it feels like the government is trying to convince Kenyans that all this panic, all these quarantine centres and all these preparations are proof that the Laikipia facility was necessary.
To many of us, it looks like the opposite.
It looks like Kenya is creating problems it never had to justify a decision that should never have been made.
Something doesn't add up.
@KenyaPower_Care can you explain to me how after posting this last evening i received message asking me to check my Dm from @_KenyaPowerDM_ asking to share my details ie account number and phone no?? They would later subject me to a long cone game??
