When Armstrong Panmei constructed 100km road, he was celebrated as hero. When the Kuki people built a crucial bridge linking Tengnoupal, Chandel & Churachandpur after years of government neglect, it suddenly labelled "illegal" by @republic.

THADOU TRIBE COUNCIL (TTC-GHQ) CONDEMNS FIRING ON INNOCENT CIVILIAN
The Thadou Tribe Council (General Headquarters) has strongly condemned the reported firing on innocent Kuki villagers who were proceeding to their agricultural fields on 20 June 2026.
According to the statement, Mr. Nohjang Haokip, son of Late Khelthang Haokip of Joujangtek Village, sustained bullet injuries after alleged firing by NSCN (IM) militants from Nungsai-1 (Chingkao). Mr. Nohjang was reportedly unarmed and engaged solely in his daily livelihood activities when the incident occurred.
The Council stated that targeting unarmed civilians is a serious violation of basic human rights and humanitarian principles. It expressed grave concern over the attack and emphasized that innocent villagers and farmers should never become targets of violence.
TTC-GHQ has demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible and called for an impartial and independent investigation into the incident to ensure accountability and justice.
The Council also conveyed its prayers for the speedy recovery of Mr. Nohjang Haokip and expressed solidarity with his family during this difficult time.
The Thadou Tribe Council reaffirmed that the protection of civilian lives, human dignity, peace, and security must be upheld at all times by all concerned authorities.

PRESS STATEMENT
KIM Secretariat, the 6th June, 2026
REJOINDER TO NSCN-IM'S REBUTTAL STATEMENT OF 5TH JUNE 2026
04/KIM/PR/25-42: Kuki Inpi Manipur categorically rejects the NSCN-IM's rebuttal as an exercise in denial and evasion. Our statement dated 5th June 2026 is not "fabrication", "misinformation", or an "opportunistic exploitation of human tragedy". It is a factual record of documented collusion between NSCN-IM elements and Meitei radical groups, including arms supply, safe havens, and direct participation in attacks on Kuki villages, supported by survivor testimonies and ground evidence.
Kuki Inpi respects the right of any people, including the Nagas, to pursue genuine self-determination through honourable and legitimate means. However, we will not tolerate any campaign conducted in the name of self-determination that results in the systematic killing, displacement, and suffering of the Kuki people.
While we value historical neighbourly ties with the Naga people, the recent conduct of NSCN-IM, particularly its Manipur factions, has rendered continued tolerance impossible. Senior NSCN-IM leaders, including VS Atem, have publicly used genocidal language, describing Kukis as "cockroaches" to be exterminated. Such rhetoric has no place in any responsible movement claiming revolutionary credentials.
NSCN-IM's actions, including collusion with Meitei radical groups, disruption of the Kuki struggle for justice, and targeted violence, reveal an agenda that goes far beyond self-determination. We call upon the NSCN-IM to immediately cease these activities and refrain from further incitement.
The Kuki people remain committed to peace with honour, but we will resolutely defend our lives, lands, and dignity.

A candlelight vigil was organised by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) on 17 January 2026 at the Wall of Remembrance to honour and remember Nengtinlhing Hsokip, a 20-year-old young woman whose life was tragically cut short following a brutal assault.
Nengtinlhing reportedly endured grave violence after being handed over at an ATM booth in New Checkon, taken to Langol, and later abandoned in Bishnupur. Though she survived the initial assault, she suffered severe physical and psychological trauma, including critical uterine complications. She was shifted to Guwahati for advanced treatment, where she fought for her life before succumbing to her injuries on 10 January 2026.
Community leaders, women’s groups, civil society members, and concerned citizens gathered in silence and solidarity, lighting candles to mourn the life lost and to honour her memory. Speakers expressed deep anguish and strongly condemned the violence inflicted upon her.
The vigil also strongly condemned the continued failure of the BJP-led governments at both the Centre and the State, whose silence, inaction, and lack of accountability have allowed violence against women particularly from Indigenous and marginalised communities to persist with impunity. Participants asserted that justice delayed and denied reflects a deeper collapse of governance, law enforcement, and political will.
The programme served as a resolute call for justice, accountability, and systemic reform. Participants demanded a thorough, impartial investigation and urged authorities to ensure that all those responsible directly or indirectly are held accountable under the law, without political protection.
The vigil concluded with prayers and a collective resolve to continue raising voices against violence and injustice so that Nengtinlhing Hsokip’s life, dignity, and suffering are never forgotten, and no other woman is abandoned by the system again.

The exclusion of the Kuki people from India’s Republic Day parade has once again underscored the systematic marginalization of their identity and culture.

@AjoyKhuman1992 @DynastyDoungel@NBirenSingh We aren't aware because you didn't disclose the identity of their husbands officially.. sorry for those who were killed..they deserved a martyr status then being buried under the carpet
This is the story of Mrs. Lhingneilam, wife of the late Jangkholun, who was mercilessly killed by Arambai Tenggol and UNLF at Thangbuh on July 16, 2023. They had envisioned a wonderful and bright future with their children. Unfortunately, @NBirenSingh's actions against the Kuki-Zo community, which amounted to genocide, turned their lives upside down. She’s now supporting her children by selling sugarcane juice near DC Office, CCp. Dear Honorable Home Minister @AmitShah ji, will you still say this is her fault?

Criminals are allowed to roam free.. are we still living in a democracy or taliban-like govt.? One wonders!!!

The resignation of Biren, the Chief Minister of Manipur, does not bring much joy to the Kuki community. The central government surely is aware of the fact that the deep-seated hatred and mistrust between the Meiteis and Kukis, fueled by years of conflict and violence, cannot be easily erased by a change in leadership. The wounds run too deep, and the pain of losing loved ones, homes, and livelihoods still lingers.
The conflict between the two communities is rooted in historical, cultural &economic differences, making it a complex issue that requires more than just a change in government.
The Kuki community has been facing numerous untold predicaments including ethnic violence, displacement, and marginalization under the dominant Meitei community which have led to a deep sense of social political and economic insecurity. The Kukis therefore can never agree to the idea of living together with the Meiteis again. In recent violence in Manipur the Kukis have lost over 230 lives, thousands displaced and properties worth millions have been destroyed. The hurt and anger have become entrenched, making a reconciliation between the Kukis and the Meiteis a daunting task, even if a new chief minister is installed, it can never bridge the gap between the two communities.
In this context, the Central Government has the moral political obligations to consider the Kukis' demand for Union Territory with legislative powers and to initiate a dialogue to explore the possibilities of a separate administration for the Kuki community in Manipur. This demand is not driven by a desire for separation but by a need for self-governance and protection of their rights and interests.
Granting a separate political administration to the kukis by way of Union Territory with legislative power will help them address their security concerns. It will also better equipped them to address the security challenges facing their community and enable them to harness their natural resources, promote entrepreneurship, and create employment opportunities for their youth. They would also be able to preserve and promote their unique cultural heritage, language, and traditions.
