Nick, I believe judges from all ethnicities and all social backgrounds can be the "very best".
@KemiBadenoch's 'inclusive action plan' agreed and set out plans to improve judicial diversity.
Are you following Robert Jenrick to Reform next?
1) As the country reflects this week on the need for equality before the law, David Lammy is promoting a new Diversity Board for the judiciary.
But to say the ethnicity of a judge matters undermines the principle that the law is blind. 1/
Sitting down with Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, Freddie Fraser finds out what the new Judicial and Legal Diversity Board, co-chaired with Lady Chief Justice Baroness Sue Carr, really means for talented people from all backgrounds who want to become judges.
Today, I was interviewed by @Cosmopolitan. Must admit, I never thought I’d say that!
I’m really excited that @DavidLammy has asked me to work on his cross-government Men and Boys agenda.
I was talking about the specific dangers facing boys in online spaces, and the ‘Manosphere’. This is an issue so many of my constituents are worried about, and last night I spoke at a panel with @KanishkaNarayan and others about the government’s important work in this area. Thanks to the brilliant @alistrathern and @sarahsmithlab who organised the event - and have been championing this cause.
More generally, I’m very keen to use this role to amplify the challenges and achievements that are perhaps more specific to men and boys. And also ensure these are rigorously considered across government.
I’m keen to hear from organisations that work in this space! Get in touch.

I want every young person to have a place in society, driven by a good career, in a stronger, fairer Britain.
Today I joined His Majesty The King, @GarethSouthgate and @lisanandy to launch a new @KingsTrust initiative, helping to mentor young people as they get ready for work.
Today we're stepping up the fight against prostate cancer.
Black men face a significantly higher risk of developing and dying from the disease.
That’s why we're taking action by ensuring all eligible Black men are invited to join a vital new trial. Early diagnosis saves lives✅
The new UK-Ghana Growth Partnership is delivering trade and investment opportunities for British workers and businesses.
Proud to see the partnership signed yesterday alongside President Mahama.
Happy Independence Day to the people of Guyana🇬🇾
As someone whose family story is tied to Guyana, I know the pride, resilience & spirit that define this great nation.
Today, Guyana marks 60 years of independence, & we celebrate the enduring partnership between our two countries
On Eid al-Adha, I send my warmest wishes to all those celebrating across the UK and around the world.
At this special time, I wish you and your loved ones peace, joy and good health.
May Eid bring comfort and inspire us all to continue standing together in the spirit of unity and mutual respect.
Eid Mubarak.
Whilst Keir Starmer is on the brink of resignation and job losses reach record levels, this is what the Deputy Prime Minister is focused on.
(we’re not joking he literally posted this bizarre video to his own TikTok)
Following a swift and detailed examination of the cases, the Attorney General has made the decision to refer the cases of the Fordingbridge Three to the Court of Appeal.
It is now for the court to decide whether to increase the sentence.

As the first Black Lord Chancellor, I’m determined to widen opportunity, break down barriers, and ensure talent, not background, determines success.
A judiciary that reflects modern Britain is a stronger judiciary.

An incredible experience to be out with Faron Paul and the Faz Amnesty team, hearing directly from young people and seeing community outreach in action.
The message was clear:
📍 Prevention and early intervention matter most
💬 Trusted mentors and local organisations change lives
📣 That’s why as part of our reforms to youth justice, we’re investing in a three-year £15.4m annual investment in the Turnaround programme to help give young people support before they reach crisis point.
I spent yesterday with young people with lived experience, ministers, international organisations, and charities to drive forward global action on children’s care reform - an issue that matters deeply to me.
New stats show we now have over 1,600 more teachers in our colleges & sixth forms.
With the 2,300 more we have in our secondaries & special schools, Labour is on our way to recruiting 6,500 more expert teachers.
We're turning the Tory tide on teacher recruitment & retention 📈
Rights and responsibilities.
Our new approach to youth justice ensures families are supported to turn around young lives. But there are expectations for parents too. That’s what our communities expect.
I was asked about our new parenting orders on @GBNEWS today. 👇
