Gareth Southgate’s documentary highlighted our failure to do right by many boys growing up in Britain today.
From paternity leave that supports present dads, to boosting male role models in schools, there’s lots we can improve.
We’re determined to ensure Labour leads on this 👇
Great to see coverage of our big win with @dadshiftuk and @onthetoolstv to expand paternity support to self employed dads 👶
I know this will make a big difference to the families impacted, who’ve been overlooked for far too long ✅
📣 Budget day news 📣

Over 32,000 households across Hitchin will get £100 to help with their energy bills this winter ❄️
Global events exacerbated by our broken energy markets are pushing up costs for all of us. We can’t solve them overnight, but it’s vital we do what we can to support households.
Absolute garbage - this is a technical change that happens when public sector pension contributions change. There’s no impact on defence spending power & the Tories used the same mechanism in govt. What does matter for defence spending? The chancellor, who has increased it
With global pressures pushing up costs, we're taking action to give people more breathing space.
Households in council tax bands A-D in England will receive a £100 Household Energy Payment to help with bills this winter.
This budget is a real win for so many of the fantastic local business that make our towns and villages so special 🎉
Taking scores out of rates, and slashing rates for many more, it recognises the value they bring to our communities and backs them ✅
Chancellor John Healey will remove standing charges from household gas bills for tens of millions of people, with the government estimating that 60% of households will save an average of £45 per year.

My Budget today will help families with the pressures they face now.
It will back businesses and entrepreneurs, invest in Britain's future, and strengthen our national security.
A plan to get through this moment and build a stronger Britain.
Gas standing charges to be scrapped 🔥
💷 Saving the typical household money
🧮 Ensuring we only pay for the energy we use
🔋 Further encouraging the transition to clean energy
Positive action to reform broken markets and help us weather the impact of international pressures ✅
This is a real win for every dad who was placed in the heartbreaking position of having to choose between which there for their family in those crucial early days, and getting back to work to ensure they could provide for them.
Your stories helped make this possible 👏
We did it for self-employed dads 🎉
Today after over a year of campaigning, @andyburnham has announced we are extending paid paternity leave to self employed dads ✅
No one should defend an asylum system that saw criminal gangs profit off our borders, and rip-off hotel operators profit off the chaotic backlog of decisions.
Control, efficiency and fairness should be at the heart of any asylum system and that’s what we’ve started to deliver ✅
Rough sleeping is a thing that governments either choose to accept or don't.
This Labour Government does not believe that anyone in this country should be sleeping outside on any day of the week
Henry Nowak was just 18 years old, with his whole life ahead of him. His murder was a horrific and senseless crime, and my thoughts remain with his family and friends, who have endured unimaginable loss and heartbreak.
The Nowak family have shown extraordinary courage and dignity in their pursuit of answers. Henry’s case has raised serious and legitimate questions about whether more could have been done to prevent this tragedy, and about the response of public authorities in its aftermath.
An independent review will seek those answers.
I am grateful to Alex Chalk for agreeing to lead this important work. He brings considerable experience and expertise, and I know he will conduct the review with the rigour, independence and seriousness that Henry’s case demands.
'Hitchin’s MP, Alistair Strathern, is asking fellow MPs to back his Private Member’s Bill to make Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) compulsory up to the age of 18. At the moment the duty on schools and colleges to provide it ends at 16.'

'The Bill is due its second reading in the House of Commons on Friday 4 December. The Relationships and Sex Education (Further Education Sector) Bill was introduced on 17 June 2026. It would extend RSE into the further education sector, so that young people who carry on into further education after 16 are still taught about consent, coercive control and how to recognise the signs of abuse.
The MP’s office points out that 16 to 19 year olds experience the highest rates of domestic abuse of any age group, yet they are not guaranteed those lessons. Campaigners call it a dangerous gap.'
