@m_takahiroswim Only rules I know of just ban crossing into another lane (infamous Owen Lloyd celebration DQ) if this was illegal then so would a swimmer accidentally over swimming if they miscount their race
I honestly can’t STAND the use of terms like “world record” and “fastest in history” without any kind of qualifier that the swim is “enhanced”
If we’re playing by those rules and words don’t mean things then that should really be a picture of Mauricio Fernández
@Braden_Keith I actually wish I’d thought of that one, I sometimes use graphs from google sheets as a template to make graphs as motion graphics and I HATE using the settings to tweak it for something that I’m really only using to make sure everything is to scale when I make the real one
@JLecoutere@WorldAquatics As someone that makes swimming content trying to find race videos is sometimes the most frustrating and difficult part of the process.
The further back you go the worse it gets
@kylesockwell I’ve thought about this before, gymnastics has both a team event and individual event finals…why not swimming?
Week one normal swimming (Not LA though)
Week two SCM dual meet tournament
Maybe even pick a separate team for it so short course specialists can remain pro
@Braden_Keith I think it also helps set up reoccurring story lines as well. I mean one of the most iconic rivalries the sport has ever seen is Phelps and Cavic, and I don’t think it would be as highly regarded if it was a more friendly rivalry.
THIS was the moment I knew Katie Ledecky was winning the 800. Going into the 650 turn Summer McIntosh is already bringing her kick into it while Ledecky is still holding her off before she even changes gears at the end
@yyanyanli1 I’m glad they seem to be sticking with “distance behind” for the graphics behind the swimmers instead of the speed tails for the shorter races.
I always liked that better across all distances, and speed tails are actually WORTHLESS in breast and fly
@damnation_space Legitimately why I started doing running dives into the water for morning practices in college. You start far enough away for the doubt to be absent in your mind and by the time you start running you can’t really bail anymore.
@SwimFanAus@swimswim48 I think she certainly has the ability to threaten the 200 fly, but it’s such a fast record it’ll need to be a nearly PERFECT race to get the job done
@_brendanburns I’d imagine the ideal lighting situation for any large meet is as dark as possible (within reason) everywhere except the pool itself.
Makes the pool lighting act as a giant spotlight and highlights the pool itself making it seem more important as the primary focus.
@LEDECKYNATION Somehow the power of friendship final was faster than the Olympic Trials final, 1st 3rd and 4th place were all faster with 2nd being the exact same time
