In Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, Rajni Dhakad and Santosh Jatav were in love and fled to Gujarat on June 7 with the intention of getting married. On June 11 the young woman's brother and other relatives arrived in Gujarat with the police and the couple was located and taken into custody.

While they were being brought back from Gujarat to Madhya Pradesh, the young woman's throat was slit, resulting in her death, and the young man's throat was also slashed, he is currently undergoing medical treatment.

The police have claimed that Santosh Jatav slit Rajni's throat and then attempted to take his own life.

We demand a CBI inquiry into this matter, this is a case of honor killing and the role of the police is suspicious. It was the woman's relatives who killed her and the young man Santosh Jatav who belongs to the Dalit community, is being framed.
