Paul de Zulueta, Daphne du Maurier's eldest grandson, has written this intimate, revelatory family biography of the iconic writer and her famous ancestors. To do so, he has drawn on private family archives, new interviews and his own memories of his grandmother.
This is the first time a family member has written at length about Daphne, and her notable forebears, in particular her father, Gerald, her grandfather, George, and her great-great-grandmother, Mary Anne Clarke, making it a unique and very special book.
This week, publisher @ViragoBooks has revealed the cover of Last Night I Dreamt: A Personal History of the du Mauriers by Paul de Zulueta, which is due to be published on 3rd September 2026.
As a new year begins, we like to look back at Daphne du Maurier's canon of work and see what is celebrating an anniversary. We also look at the writing of Daphne's sister, Angela, and her Grandfather, George du Maurier. Find out more here: https://t.co/9YtYRhRpNG

Today the producers of ’The Lost King’, including Steve Coogan, have finally accepted that their film is an untrue and defamatory portrayal of me and the search for Richard III. It is a reckless hit job on my reputation and that of my academic colleagues.
