@jaascensao@ohallats And yeah, formally a predator adapting to genotypes of the population you are studying is a form of fluctuating selection over time. Unless you can rule out the presence of un-seen predators this is probably best explained population genetically as fluctuating selection.
@jaascensao@ohallats This sure looks like a slightly time-lagged Lotka-Volterra dynamic to me. The natural explanation is there is some genetic variation between your bar-coded clones. A bacteriophage is in your system. It adapts to prey on the most abundant clone. Clone declines. Repeat.

@EpsteinStatGen Over 6 months from Science. They made no decision for 2 months, and then sent it out for review. They got back glowing reviews and then told us "I'm sorry. We never meant to send this out for review." It was ~2000, and I think the last time I submitted to Science.

@PetrovADmitri Being my overly formal, I might say there is no such thing in natural systems. If the strength of selection is sufficiently strong to be well measured, it is fast relative to recombination, and the target locus is formally unknowable (good guesses possible, but unprovable).

If you are inclined to spend much time worrying about the difference in votes between Warnock and Ossoff, the first thing to note is, on a county by county basis, the correlation in vote count between the two is 99.9994%. The "effect" you are thinking about is vanishingly small.
CNN's comments on Dekalb county is confused. As of last night, Dekalb county had accepted 289,098 early votes. Dekalb has only reported ~140k total so far, of which maybe ~92k early. There must be at least 190k unreported early votes still in Dekalb. Senate=50-50. Bedtime.
