The incident occurred near Village Mankur in the Jand area of Attock district of Punjab, close to Khushal Garh Check Post.

Khushal Garh Bridge connects Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Attock district of Punjab.

At around 6:10 PM, a suspected suicide bomber was seen moving through nearby fields. A local resident found him suspicious and approached him, during which the bomber detonated his explosive vest, killing the civilian who confronted him.
