There have been a lot of jaw-dropping stats at this World Cup, but I don't think anything will beat the fact that during the first half last night, Scotland had the ball in the Brazilian half of the pitch for only 47 seconds.
@ABG_Scott@FootballSwissEN "there'd be no contact if the opponent wasn't trying to play the game too" lmaooo what are we even talking about?
The time between The German touch of the ball and the Ecuadorian head to foot is less than .08 seconds. It's a dangerous play objectively.
@ABG_Scott@FootballSwissEN Give me one example of a bicycle kick goal that counted after the scorer kicked a player's face in the process.
The rule literally states that bicycle kicks can be dangerous play to. Technically no fouls occur if no players do anything either Scott lol
@ABG_Scott@FootballSwissEN A boot being 2 m high stopping a player from heading a ball is objectively dangerous even if the referee has the discretion to make the call or not.
You're projecting your preference for Germany, which is fine. But the call was objectively incorrect.
@ABG_Scott@FootballSwissEN The rule states bicycle kicks can still be dangerous plays, meaning it doesn't matter who gets the ball first.
This is objectively a dangerous play. Obstructing a player's ability to head the ball with your boot 2m high. I can't entertain more debate about this lol
@CoachFrankCyp@ManagerTactical "We're gonna take a brief break from expressing our rightful anger at FIFA and the US government for our treatment during this tournament to quickly say, 'we hate gays' " - Iran Football Federation
So lame
@CoachFrankCyp@ManagerTactical There's a joke written in there somewhere about rightfully protesting mistreatment but also hating the LGBTQ community. The irony itself is just funny.
@MSanker13062 Objectively untrue. Can't find a single verified quote of European manager, players or feds wanting breaks. In reality there is much more evidence to the contrary.
The only concern was potentially lowering the temperature minimum for hydration brakes given US heat/humidity.
What is specifically happening on Fox Sports during hydration breaks that is unprecedented in the history of soccer broadcasting? It's okay to acknowledge that the suits want more money and FIFA knew that American suits would lead the charge with aplomb.
I love reading that the Americans are blamed for the hydration breaks. Truly next level incompetence if you believe that considering the hydration breaks started in 2022 and after the FIFA club World Cup, FIFA believe there would be a competitive advantage for teams playing indoors versus outdoors.
But yes absolutely blame the Americans cause all of us love 4 quarter soccer.
And don’t worry I said soccer.
@TheS_Resource Avoiding tough conversations. Getting mad or spewing bs when players ask them questions, especially if they're bench players asking how they can start games or how to improve. If you can't look them in the eye with facts and reasons, why are you coaching?
I think part of what makes this account’s work so satisfying is they are doing a form of pattern recognition that is computerlike in many ways but actually requires a soul to pull off. Proof humans are still on top
FIFA waited until a World Cup in the US to institute some of their most exploitative policies and pricing ever. We allowed them to ban tailgating too? Would be nice if we had some backbone instead of being the corporate shill of the sports world.
If you have an Academy player you acquired for free in your community. Why not move them into every potential position that could suit their physical and psychological profile? Even if they don't suit your first team, why not foster a competent pro and sell them to another club?
Never hear about rigid coaches doing this. It's always the coaches that are willing to look at the full profile of the player & make necessary changes.
US clubs are leaving millions of dollars on the table when they don't experiment with potential strengths of their academy kids
At 15, Alex Freeman trialled for his nearest MLS academy.
Inter Miami passed on him.
A former coach gave him an opportunity at Orlando City and moved him from attacker to right back.
One club saw an attacker who wasn't good enough.
The other saw a defender who didn't exist yet.
During the current World Cup, he's starting for the United States.
It's a useful reminder for everyone involved in youth sport. The players we see today are not the players they'll become.
Development isn't always about finding talent.
Sometimes it's about recognising potential before everyone else can see it.
The next player you think isn't quite good enough might simply be playing in the wrong position.
⇢ Arriving at the wrong time.
⇢ Still becoming the player they're capable of being.
The challenge isn't identifying what a player is, it's imagining what they could become.
lol, look at the comments from fans of that man.
This is what a man gets for simply just not shaking his hand, imagine what it’s like for any victim of a high profile abuser.
Can #England fans genuinely tell me why the hate for Southgate even today? 2 Euro finals & World Cup semi is farther than anyone has taken them since '66. Any manager is due fair criticism but the extra hate is weird, no?
