I am really interested in Amorim at Milan, purely because I want to see how he reflects on his mistakes at United and whether the biggest issues in his model get solved. Intriguingly, from the game against Celtic, there are a couple of positives despite him not really solving the biggest concerns.

Starting with the positives, it looks like when Milan are in settled defence, it is more of a 5-4-1, which is a massive improvement on the disjointed 5-2-3 we saw in most games at United.

This is not inherently a positive, but he used a 3-1-5-1 instead of the 3-2-5. As I said, it is not inherently a positive, but it shows variety on his part, something we rarely saw at United. Unfortunately, that's about it for the positives.

Milan got bypassed quite easily in the press, with the front three jumping and the centre-backs not backing it up due to the large distances. Celtic had a lot of space to exploit beside the double pivot. It is the same story as United.

Structurally, by far the biggest negative is that he has stuck to the centre-back inverting next to the defensive midfielder in deep buildup, completely clogging up the lanes and forcing everything wide. It is perfectly set up for his trademark automatism, with the wing-back hitting a hopeful reverse pass inside. However, as we know, this completely kills any chance of controlled progression.

In settled possession, the ball is not progressed enough through the defensive midfielder with bounce passes or any other solutions. Everything is either a switch to the far side or a wide automatism through the wing-back and the ball side 10.

I think Amorim will have a much better time at Milan than he did at United, purely because Serie A will be a lot more forgiving of these concerns. Hopefully, we see solutions develop throughout the season.

Hope this is not true. Another culture reset I want to see in the club is giving academy players a serious chance of proving if they’re good enough. That’s what Manchester United is all about. The academy has been the solid rock of every successful period this club has ever had.

Especially because Marcus is a player that won't give you the OOP work other players would. He's very limited at linking up with teammates, he gets outweighed easily -which is why I hate to see him as a #9-...

Use his strengths in the best possible way in the right moments.

Rashford is a great asset to have from the bench or v teams that will leave big spaces behind. He has the pace, the skill and the composure to turn those transitions into G/A.

What I truly hope is that he doesn't become an untouchable player in the XI.

Marcus is an inconsistent player, especially in terms of general performance. We can talk tactics all day long, but he is and he's always been.

When he's on fire, give him the ball because he will win you matches.

When he's not, don't be scared to drop him.
