They won't call it a ban. Yet not only has my book been moved, but now elementary schoolers must request a copy from a specialist at its new site AND then also PROVE their reading level before seeing a copy. All these hurdles for a young reader just to access a poem in history written for them. @MDCPS , history is not ours to hoard from children. History has always been theirs to make. And the more they're empowered to know our yesterdays, the more prepared they will be to lead us into tomorrow.

Traditional lekwungen practices live on. Cedar bark collection is still practiced in the old way. Not to damage the tree, only a small strip of bark is taken- and only from the side of the tree facing the sunrise, so the tree can heal.

Students in the K12 system need counsellors!

I’d just like to tell the public that no extra funding for counsellor staffing has been made available to school districts since before the pandemic to now. Zero extra hours of counselling available to students going through a pandemic. Hey @bcndp 👀 that’s legitimately not okay.

Som abortion thoughts: I teach sex ed and when I explain the menstrual cycle, I emphasize that if you are expecting your period, it’s one day late, and you take a pregnancy test, if it comes back positive, you are considered 4 weeks + 1 day into your pregnancy.
