The best of Dublin was visible yesterday at times. Passersby, some making their way to the Stardust inquiry, were amongst those who rushed to the aid of children. Who could ever forget the image of a pink schoolbag beside a child battling to live?

Later, those same emergency responders were attacked.

The motto of Dublin city insists that the obedience of the citizens produces a happy city. It has always struck me that Ní Neart Go Cur Le Chéile sits better. It is solidarity that binds people together, not obedience. Above all else, my thoughts are with the children and staff of that much-loved little Gaelscoil.
